1. Our commitment
MathsPro is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who use our service. The welfare of the child is paramount in all our decisions.
2. DBS checks
- All tutors must hold a valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before accepting bookings.
- Tutors who do not have an existing DBS certificate will be guided through the application process.
- DBS status is displayed on tutor profiles and verified by MathsPro.
3. Tutor vetting
In addition to DBS checks, all tutors undergo:
- A video interview to assess suitability and professionalism
- Verification of qualifications and teaching experience
- Reference checks where applicable
4. Online lesson safety
- We recommend that parents remain nearby during online lessons, especially for younger students.
- Lessons should take place in appropriate, well-lit environments.
- Screen recording or sharing of lesson content without consent is prohibited.
5. In-person lesson safety
- In-person lessons should take place in a public or agreed-upon safe location.
- Parents should be present or easily contactable during in-person sessions.
6. Reporting concerns
If you have any safeguarding concerns about a tutor or a situation involving a student, please:
- Email us immediately at safeguarding@mathspro.co.uk
- Call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 if you believe a child is at immediate risk
- Contact local authorities or police if the situation is urgent
7. Our response
All safeguarding concerns are taken seriously. When a concern is raised:
- The tutor's account will be immediately suspended pending investigation.
- We will cooperate fully with any investigation by authorities.
- The reporting parent will be kept informed of the outcome.
8. Training
MathsPro provides safeguarding guidance to all tutors as part of the onboarding process and encourages tutors to complete recognised safeguarding training.
